Description

Meet My Microbe is all about drawing LINES, SHAPES, and PATTERN while aiming to teach kids that microscopic organisms can be GOOD and not scary! This magical art lesson includes a marker transfer process using foil and water to create a fun watercolor-like design!

In this low-prep lesson, your student will demonstrate new knowledge of the human microbiome through art and storytelling.

This project was inspired by the beautiful, colorful microbes in the illustrated book A Garden in Your Belly written and illustrated by Masha D’Yans. My favorite retelling of the story on YouTube is linked in my lesson guide.

Also included is

-a step-by step art lesson guide with explanatory photos
– recommended materials and resources
– printables for microbe characters if you don’t have time for the drawing portion and they are perfect for younger students
– writing templates
– a fill in the blank paragraph for younger students
– paragraph samples

Duration: This could be completed in one session or multiple, depending on how deep into the writing portion you would like to go or how detailed of drawings you are aiming for.
