Long a with Silent e Phonics Folder Game | Silly Snake

Silly Snake is a simple and fast folder board game that has only long a and silent e words. If you homeschool a kid with special needs or tutor using a systematic phonics program, you will love our games. Each game has one or just a few phonics rules presented in the words.

I make many folder games for unique learners, primarily following several Orton-Gillingham based programs. The games are a great supplement for getting kids to practice decoding and spelling many times more than worksheets. I also design the games so that winning is by chance and you can play along with your kids. Never punish a student for not knowing a word – games are meant to be fun practice!

When you purchase this long a with silent e game, you will be able to download and print it in full color. I’ve even provided the same long a with silent e game with 4 different backgrounds, so pick the one you like best or print them all! If you prefer to save ink, adjust your printer settings to grayscale. Mount the cover with directions and the 2-page game board to a letter size file folder. You may have to adjust your printer settings to print without borders or trim off the edge. You will need a regular 6-sided die and movers – buttons, coins, or plastic game movers work fine.
