If you are looking for ways to get your students to practice dividing open syllables, you will LOVE this fun game, poster, and worksheets! Designed for older students with special needs, the words are in a large, clear font. This file also includes a step-by-step poster to help students divide words with the VCV pattern. Crazy Socks is a colorful game where players collect sock parts to build a pair a really silly socks on a template score card. Six worksheets for syllable division, decoding, and spelling practice are also provided! The worksheets are formatted to be used in a variety of ways. A teacher’s idea page gives suggestion for ways to make spelling more effective with multisensory activities!

Hi, my name is Sue Hegg! My many (over 30!) years of teaching experience has been so diverse – from multi-age classrooms to tutoring in private practice to homeschooling! Most of my career has been spent teaching reading, writing, math, and study skills to K-12 students with special needs, including learning disabilities, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, auditory processing deficits, FASD, selective mutism, emotionally fragile/anxious, and bipolar. I also provide technology-based cognitive training to kids and adults. I would love to share with you the materials I have developed for my own unique learners!
